The In-Context Editor is part of our Pro plan an higher.
Context-View is an addon to the In-Context Editor that is automatically available once you have set up the In-Context Editor and used it recently. It provides links from PhraseApp back to your application for the ultimate contextual translation.
How does Context-View work?
Context-View collects information on which keys are rendered on which URL in your web application and stores this information in PhraseApp. This allows us to generate links from keys displayed in Translation Center back to your website. Translators then can click a link next to the key and will be brought directly to the correct location where they can ideally use In-Context Editor to edit the translation.
Setting up Context-View is straightforward:
- Activate In-Context Editor by setting up a staging environment that uses the In-Context Editor
- Add the URL to your staging environment to your project settings (In-Context Editor URL)
- Browse your page with the installed In-Context Editor
While browsing and working with the In-Context Editor, all information is collected automatically and stored in PhraseApp.
Note: If your application or website uses routing via anchor/location hash, you need to enable this in the project settings as well:
This will allow us to collect and generate the URLs properly.
Working with Context-View
Working with Context-View is easy: Once we have collected enough information for a key, we will automatically display a link to the correct URL next to the key in translation view.
When the user clicks the link she will be redirected to the URL of that project and taken directly to the correct page that displays the key. The browser will automatically scroll to that exact location and the In-Context Editor will load the specified key. You can edit the translation immediately!
